In practice, many recycled materials lack the consistent mechanical and processing properties to be successfully used in this market segment. There is a better way.

Recycling and the degradation of polymers

Degradation of polymers due to frequent reprocessing as well as impurities take their toll when it comes to high precision extrusion of complicated profiles. Therefore, not all recycled materials can be used in this application. Nevertheless, the reduction of carbon footprint is an increasingly important topic in the building industry, and the re-use of materials is an able tool to reach this target.

Starting On The Right Foot

When looking for alternatives for our reinforced profile-extrusion products, we found that XINOMER offers an interesting product that sets itself apart from other available materials. XINOMER XMD PA6 and PA66 glass fiber reinforced compounds can replace virgin material-based compounds with equivalent mechanical properties, while using only recycled polymers.

The key is the use of only specific PIR materials from selected high-performance applications, locking in the mechanical properties at an elevated level.
