EXTENDED Temperature Resistance FOR Packaging CONTAINERS AND TRAYS

Hot-filled containers and heat-treated trays demand a solution for increased temperature resistance, in a range that recycled polypropylene cannot provide.

The green challenge

The use of recycled plastic materials in industrial and consumer products is increasing, to the benefit of the environment and circularity. New regulations in the EU are driving this trend, where in 2025 the PPWR regulation will replace the older PPWD, and require up to 35% of recycled content in plastic packaging.

Manufacturers using recycled content in such quantities face many challenges. It impacts not only the general product properties, but also the quality consistency, due to property and availability fluctuations in the raw material streams. A solution was needed to increase temperature resistance beyond the range that can be reached with recycled polypropylene.

Use a flexible approach to modifying materials

With the use of an XINOMER XMD booster batch, you are able to specify usage of your rPP containers and trays for usage from -10°C to 120°C.
An efficient solution, as dosage can be optimised during injection moulding to match the actual raw materials performance. This way, production waste due to out-of-spec material can be avoided.

Get on-point performance with minimal waste

XINOMER XMD booster batch allows for effective correction of mechanical properties during production, just to the extent that is needed. When applied, you can still match the targeted recycled content in your product, as Xinomer’s booster batches are based on a carrier of recycled material.
